You will never have this day with your children again. Tomorrow, they'll be a little older than they were today. This day is a gift. Breath and notice. Smell and touch them. Study their faces and little feet and pay attention. Enjoy today mamma, it will be over before you know it.

A Rolling Baby Gathers No Moss

HE DID IT!

July 29th was a big day in the O'Neal house. Cohen finally decided to roll over! He has had good head and neck control for a long time and has been "pushing up" (off of mommy's chest of course!) and rolling onto his side for a while as well- I was just waiting for him to put it all together. I'm SO glad I got to see it!

I'm sure when Tyler comes home from work his response will be "make him do it again"- so you can probably guess how this is gonna go- lots of cheering from mom and dad,  a lot of noise from Cohen, but no dice. Isn't that how it goes when you catch something for the first time and you swear they did it? Luckily I have my handy flip camera to catch all the action! I'm sure he will do it again while the Hubs is watching-and it will be just as fun the second time!

I think that teething will be his next "trick"- that one will prove to be slightly less fun for all parties involved. Can't believe I'm already talking about this- this kid was JUST born, right??!!

Along these same lines- here are a few things I never thought I would cheer for:
- A poopy diaper
- Bath time (for Cohen)
- A shower (for me)
- A "good" burp
- "Sleeping in" until 8 am.
- Eating dinner simultaneously with the Hubs
- Watching my kid be uninterested while laying next to another kid, while they are laying uninterested right back (who cares if they aren't into it, its so adorable!!)
- Almost catching a smile on camera (I HATE long camera delays!)
- CAFFEINE!!!

Note: This took at least four attempts on camera for me to decide which one to use. There was a lot of spitting up involved in most of them! Maybe it is not such a good idea to do tummy time directly after a feeding:(

Did I catch a "momma" in there??????

Watch all the way through and you tell me if you hear what I hear at the end of this video:)

I realize he is not really saying momma but I think I'm gonna say he did anyway!!

Easy Like Sunday Mornin'

Cohen slept in his "big boy" bed last night for the first time! He woke up in a very cheerful mood and I guess he decided it was time to start talking like a big boy too!

He did this all day long!

Beaches, Babies, and a Bad Back!

Annual family beach trip with Tyler's parents has been upgraded! We now have included two new members to our yearly vacation, Cohen and Cooper! This was the first "beach trip" for them and let me just tell you that it was great...with a few tiny exceptions. Let me elaborate: Upon arrival, Tyler was having some back pain that was inflicted because of helping our neighbor move a piece of furniture. Which was in turn aggravated by the 5 hours that it took us to get to the beach.  Our first night was spent with Tyler lying on the oh so comfortable tile floor in the condo and  with me walking Cohen  around due to his constant screaming! (They say dogs can tell when they are in a new place, I'm assuming this is also true for babies.) The next day was much better, as I spent most of it at the pool, afterwards  resembling a lobster! On Wednesday, Tyler thought that he was ok to play golf.....WRONG! He spent the next two days hunched over and walking funny do to the crippling pain in his back. Needless to say I was oh so thankful that Grammy and Pops were there to help with some of the "babysitting" (I didn't think they would mind anyway)! All in all we had a wonderful time with the family and look forward to many more years of beaches and babies, minus the bad back!

Original Oyster House

Oh yeah, mommy is burnt!!!!

First time to touch the sand and water! He seemed to like it!

Gotta love that hat and his swim trunks with little crabs on them!

Mommy's sweet little man

Adorable

Cohen and daddy! The lens on my camera got a little foggy:(

He liked the pool...it was almost as warm as his bath water!

The two sweetest little men!!

Yes i realize this is a blurry picture but i am always trying to catch him while smiling!
I will get a better one soon. Of course as my luck would have it the camera decided not to work just right:(

Look at that sweet beach baby

Still snoozin'

My two most favorite men

Red....Yellow...and Blue....oooh!

As I was picking up the house this morning, I happen to catch a glimpse of Cohen enjoying his morning cartoons! He was smiling and kicking in his little bouncer and having such a good time with Sesame Street!  Ahh, the joys of waking up on a summer morning and watching good ole cartoons!

Oh, and just check out his hair! Can we say bed head???!!!! Love it!

from the book of babes...

There are always things in life one could worry about. Being a Mom seems to triple, no quadruple, that number of things. That is definitely something I am working on day by day- with a little help from reassuring family and friends and also through prayer- probably the most effective way to work on something. Since this "no worry" thing has been top of mind lately, I got kind of tickled when I looked up a children's book online  that I wanted to purchase for  Cohen, and I read this excerpt:

WHATIF

Last night, while I lay thinking here,
Some Whatifs crawled inside my ear
And pranced and partied all night long
And sang their same old Whatif song:
Whatif I'm dumb in school?
Whatif they've closed the swimming pool?
Whatif I get beat up?
Whatif there's poison in my cup?
Whatif I start to cry?
Whatif I get sick and die?
Whatif I flunk the test?
Whatif green hair grows on my chest?
Whatif nobody likes me?
Whatif lightning strikes me?
Whatif I don't grow taller?
Whatif my head starts getting smaller?
Whatif I tear my pants?
Whatif I never learn to dance?

Everything seems swell, and then
The nighttime Whatifs strike again!!
- Shel Silverstein

A good reminder that LOTS of our Whatifs sound just as bizarre or unreasonable when we finally say them out loud!

Here are some recent pics! Hope everybody had a Happy Fourth!!!

This is what happens when we try tummy time!
